Besides the human voice, there are a variety of other instruments used to “back up singing” and make the sound bigger and help relay the message. As early gospel music evolved such instrumentation depended on what was available either for a church congregation, group or individual. These instruments include the tamborine, piano, organ, banjo, guitar, bass guitar, and drums and other stringed instruments.
